An IP68-rated waterproof LAN cable gland is attached to the bottom side of the enclosure. Follow the below steps to install the LAN cable on the extender through the cable gland to provide DC power and internet traffic.
Take off the Cap anti-clockwise from the Gland. Push from inside of the Barrel to take out the orange rubber Stopper.
Take one end of the LAN cable through the Cap;
Clamp with the rubber Stopper;
Put the LAN cable through the Barrel screw, and settle the Stopper inside the Barrel;
Plug the RJ45 connector into the PoE & WAN port on the motherboard;
Turn and tighten the Cap in the clockwise direction on the Barrel.
When disconnecting the LAN cable from the router, first take off the Cap and Stopper from the Barrel screw, then unplug the RJ45 connector from the PoE & WAN port.
Complying with the 802.3af PoE standard, the extender uses a PoE injector to transmit 48Volt DC power and internet data. A 48Volt 802.3af standard PoE injector and 10-meter CAT5 outdoor-grade LAN cable are included in the package.
You can use a max 50-meter LAN cable. Suggest using CAT5e, CAT6, or higher-grade LAN cable and ensure it's the TIA/EIA568B wiring. Please refer to the below image.
The PoE injector has two RJ45 ports, PoE and LAN. Connect the LAN port to the LAN (or marked "Ethernet") port on the internet router, and connect the PoE port to the PoE & WAN port on the WiFi extender.
You can replace the default PoE injector with an IEEE802.3af/at standard PoE switch. On an unmanaged switch, the extender can obtain DC power and internet traffic from the LAN port on the PoE switch.
The DC socket on the WiFi extender takes wide-range DC power, 9~48 Volt. The DC socket supports a standard Ø5.5/2.1mm DC plug. The cable gland can take an extra DC power cable.
The router will use the first connected power source if the DC socket and PoE power are enabled. If one drops, the router will seamlessly switch to another power source.
Do not use an overloaded electrical current on the DC socket! The suggested typical DC power is 12Volt 1~2Amps.
